Welcome to the “Mosta Women’s Football Team” site. The Mosta Women’s Football team started functioning in 1996, on the initiative of Mosta F.C.ex/President Mr. Winston Fenech and ex Mosta Supporters Club Committee Member Ms. Rita Camilleri. Actually the idea cropped up at the beginning of Season 1995/96. 15 young girls started training under the guidance of coach Mr. Joe Gauci and in January 1996 took to the field for their first football match on the 7a-side pitch at the Infetti Ground in B’Kara. It was Mr. Gauci who injected discipline, football techniques and the love of the game in these girls. The following year the Mosta team was involved in the first Footbal League organized by the Malta FA. Joe Gauci ropped in Mr. Paul Vella an ex.Mosta football player to assist him. League matches for Women were held at the Pace Grasso hard ground for six consecutive years. To the satisfaction of one and all the Mosta Women team always faired very well. Although no trophies were brought to the club, our girls’ performances were always satisfactory and examplery. So much so, that some local players have since been asked to train and play for the Women’s National Team. For the last 4 years qualified football coach Mr. Charles Agius ex-Mosta player and coach took over the Ladies’ team and matches are held at the Luxol Ground, on artificial turf. With the hard work of Ms. Rita Camilleri assisted by Mrs. Anna Aguis the Mosta Women’s team is better organized. More over it is good to watch, follow and support. A note worth mentioning is that three girls from the original team of 1996, namely sisters Marisa and Vanessa Deguara and Joan Coates are still playing football with the Mosta Team. Girls from the age of 10 who are interested to learn and play football are to call at the Mosta Youth Nursery – Mosta Football Ground, every day after 6.00pm and register there. Football is Fun.
